Hal grew up in the Birmingham area and attended The University of Alabama. It was here he met his wife, Marion, and became a believer in Jesus Christ. Upon graduation from Alabama with a degree in Civil Engineering, Hal and Marion moved to Texas where Hal studied at Dallas Theological Seminary and received his Th.M. degree in Systematic Theology. Hal and Marion worked as missionaries for over 10 years in Belgium and then in Canada.
After returning to the U.S., Hal studied and received his Ph.D. from The University of Alabama specializing in Marriage and Family Therapy issues. He is a certified Marriage and Family Therapist and is licensed by the Alabama Board of Examiners in Counseling. For over 20 years, Hal has been involved in counseling and conducting seminars and conferences in the U.S. and in various foreign countries. Throughout this time, he has always approached counseling from a cognitive framework that is based on a Biblical foundation.
Marion and Hal have been married for over 37 years and have three grown children and two grandchildren. During the many years Hal has been involved in counseling, he has proven his strong love for people and an ability for helping people grow as individuals.
